WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR PATH SINCE YOU JOINED UNIQLO ?

I started working for UNIQLO in 2002. I started as a store manager, then became area manager, then moved to head quarter as the New Store Opening team leader in Japan. Then, I took the opportunity to move to the UK as an area manager, then in Paris. Last year I had the chance to establish UNIQLO business in the great city of Antwerp, Belgium as a country manager.

WHAT ARE YOUR AMBITIONS IN UNIQLO?

My happiness is to make customers and staff very happy.

I would like to expand the UNIQLO business and bring happiness to all people in Europe!

My dream job would be to manage the whole European business and achieve the company’s mission.

“Shin Zen Bi” (Truth, Virtue, Beauty) is one of our core values. What inspires you in this philosophy?

Aiming for “Truth” means being real, authentic in the way we do business. “Virtue” means being ethical, acting with the purpose of helping to make society better. “Beauty” means for us doing good and beautiful things, that are universally appreciated?

Based on this philosophy, I believe I have to be always honest, fair and positive for anything. This is the most important thing I want to teach and share with my team members, as together, we can  make the world a better place.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR PATH SINCE YOU JOINED UNIQLO ?

Safia: I joined Le Marais store in Paris in May 2014. I started to work on the ground floor and I have had the chance to work on each floor in 9 months. Thanks to this, I have developed a global vision of the store, as well as detailed knowledge of products and customers needs. A couple of months after I joined, I have been promoted to Senior sales advisor.

Francois: I started to work in Uniqlo in March 2014 for the opening of Le Marais store in Paris. I promoted to Senior sales advisor only a few months after the opening. Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to participate to other store openings in Marseille , and volunteered to be involved in CSR activities with a Parisian charity. I truly enjoy my day to day job at Uniqlo.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM JOB?

Safia: I recently discovered my dream job: to be store manager in Spain. I want to participate to another opening and Spain is one of my favorite countries. I’m convinced Uniqlo will have a huge success in this country.

Francois: My dream job would be to take more responsibilities while travelling the world in a growing business.

AS SALES ADVISOR, HOW DO YOU APPLY THE ZEN IN KEIEI PRINCIPLE IN YOUR DAY TO DAY JOB?

Safia: I naturally apply the zen in keiei principle in my daily tasks: for instance by always striving to find the best solution when facing a difficulty, by helping my team when I work on the shopfloor, by setting up targets to the team I manage or again sharing our store objectives with others.

Francois: Everyday, I am fully involved in achieving the sales results, by training my team and also by being training myself. I also constantly try to find the best way to communicate with all staff members and make them work more efficiently, with a real purpose.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR PATH SINCE YOU JOINED UNIQLO ?

I joined Uniqlo in September 2012 after graduating from business school, as part of the fast track trainee program called UMC (Uniqlo Manager Candidate) For almost three months I learnt all the basics, understood the companie’s values and began to manage a small team in a small store in Paris area. Then I joined the flagship store Uniqlo Opéra for several months and worked within a team of hundreds of people. In September 2013 I was part of the opening team of the fourth new parisian store, where I was in charge of a floor.

In January 2014 I had the privilege to be selected to be a part of the first german flagship store in Berlin. We really started from stratch and had to recruit and trained all the new staffs and make them understand and embrace Fast Retailing values. To make the staff proud of their store and willing to make it a success was really rewarding. I came back to France in September 2014 to manage my own store, a great opportunity to demonstrate Zen in keiei and make the staff understand they all are the driver of the store success.

In March 2015 I have worked on our first belgian store opening in Antwerp, and since a few months I am back in the parisian flagship store, and I am ready to embrace new challenges !

A job where I learn everyday and push myself constantly further. A job where I am constantly challenged.

HOW DO YOU LIVE THE FAST! RETAILING WAY?

Joining Fast Retaling is like embarking a fast train ! The group has big plans of expansion and needs business leaders to achieve the vision. Fast Retailing values performance and everyone has the opportunity to become the number one.

Since I joined the company in September 2012 I worked in 5 different locations in three different continents. That is truly amazing. Very few companies offer these kind of opportunities in such a short time.

Working for retail business is not for slow makers. Everyday is a new challenge. At Fast Retailing I’m learning how to take decisions quickly and I’m encouraged to constantly challenge and improve myself.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR PATH SINCE YOU JOINED UNIQLO?

I joined Uniqlo as a Part time Christmas temporary associate in 2007. Two years later, I graduated from study and became Assistant manager, then Store manager. I had the privilege to work in 6 different stores in the UK. 2.5 years ago, I moved to Berlin and launched our first Global Flagship store in Germany, and in 2015 I was part of the Antwerp store opening team.

A STORE MANAGER IN UNIQLO IS LIKE AN ENTREPRENEUR. CAN YOU TELL US HOW DO YOU THINK YOU ARE AN ENTREPRENEUR IN YOUR JOB?

As a store manager, I believe I am the ‘drive’ for the business. As well as daily routine tasks, we also need to be an innovator, constantly think of new ideas to approach and win in the new market. As a successful entrepreneur, you need to be passionate, determined and at times take risks. Likewise, as a store manager, I am fully responsible for its success and failure.

My career dream is quite simple. The current world we are living in is unfortunately not perfect. My dream is to be able to have an impactful contribution and better serve our communities and society. WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR PATH SINCE YOU JOINED UNIQLO?

I started the Uniqlo adventure 6 years ago, when we established the Uniqlo Opera store. I joined as a sales advisor, and after one year I had the fantastic opportunity to be part of the Visual merchandising team. Since then, I have been working on many projects such as store openings, the set-up of pop up stores in new cities, and special events in stores. Thanks to this I met a lot of great people and worked on exciting challenges.

Our goal is to create a truly unique store experience and exceed customers expectations. The store must be good looking, with mannequins having a strong visual impact, and staff members able to give the right guidance to our customers on how they can combine our products to create outfits that will make them feeling good. We aim at always treating them with the highest attention possible and find the right solution to what they are looking for.
