The elimination of down packs greatly contributes to the lightness of Ultra Light Down. By stuffing the feathers directly into one highly dense piece of fabric instead, we have dramatically reduced the weight of Ultra Light Down – making it lighter than ever.
With Ultra Light Down being so light, you would never expect the level of warmth it offers. We have struck a balance of providing garments which offer amazing warmth and surprising lightness, without any trade off or compromise. But don’t take our word for it: try it and experience the lightness and warmth for yourself. You will be glad that you did.
What first began as an everyday wear, Uniqlo has reinvented in Japan as “LifeWear”. LifeWear isn’t disposable clothing but perfect components made with quality. We create LifeWear by evolving the ordinary, producing big and small innovations that benefit our customers everyday. LifeWear. Simple made better.
Every Ultra Light Down garment comes with a pouch for compact storage and portability, allowing you to fold your jacket up, pack it into its pouch and carry it with you wherever you go.
This portability of Ultra Light Down purposes it into an essential that you won’t leave home without. You may not always need it, but it’s there in case you do. Sitting un-obtrusively in your bag or be key-chained / karabina hooked to your waist, transforming it into a daily essential along with your keys, wallet and mobile phone. There with you every step of the way, whether you wear it or not.
The world needed a better solution against the cold and UNIQLO decided to find it by challenging common sense. After years of working with the world-class textile manufacturer Toray and creating over ten thousand samples, we came up with a totally new material to fight the cold.
This solution came in the form of a cutting-edge fabric which takes body heat and stores it within air pockets deep within the fibres to keep the wearer warm. This is HEATTECH.
The connotation with ‘thermal wear’ has always been thickness. But UNIQLO turned it around by asking the following question : Why not make it as thin as possible? This formed the basis of HEATTECH. With garments as thin as 0.55mm, you can keep the warmth closer than ever.
Ultra fine fibres provide a smooth texture, which is soft to the touch. Fitting you like a second skin.
The fine micro fibres within AIRism allow body heat and moisture to escape. Quickly drying away sweat and perspiration.
The elasticity of AIRism provides a perfect fit – fitting you like a second skin, without compromising movement or maneuverability.
AIRism undergoes a special treatment process which neutralises odours.
AIRism is fully breathable. Absorbing moisture and perspiration and releasing it through the garment to leave you feeling cool and comfortable.
AIRism provides a cooling sensation which is felt the second it comes in contact with your skin.
The fibres of AIRism undergo a special process which prevents the growth of bacteria, thereby eliminating unwanted odours.
UNIQLO was the first company in Japan to establish an SPA (Specialty store retailer of Private label Apparel)* model encompassing all stages of the business – from design and production to final sale. By continuously refining its SPA model, UNIQLO successfully differentiates itself from other companies by developing unique products. We quickly make adjustments to production to reflect the latest sales trends and to minimize store operation costs. This is how we, at UNIQLO, provide such high-quality clothing at such reasonable prices.
We are a modern Japanese company that inspires the world to dress casually. We have enjoyed strong growth and now have worldwide operations, topping a network of more than 1450 stores. With accessible prices, superior quality and versatile style, by changing clothes, we believe that we can change conventional wisdom and change the world.
Our vision is bold; to become the number 1 clothes retailer in the world. We truly believe that this dream can be achieved through providing the best customer service experience on the high street. UNIQLO’s business is, and has always been, customer-driven, and customer-first.
Products, stores, services, people, management. Everything we do – centers around the individual who wears the clothes.

The Fast Retailing Group’s mission, as stated under its FR Way corporate philosophy, is to use the power of clothing to enrich people’s lives and benefit society.
To fulfill this mission, FR must fully integrate its CSR and business activities, listen and respond to the voices of all stakeholders around the world, and use its daily operations to make the world a better place.

Through the Japan Setouchi Olive Foundation we have planted more than 150,000 trees to help Teshima Island and other Setouchi areas recover from toxic waste that devastated its ecology in the 1980s. In January 2013 we committed to eliminating hazardous chemicals from our production process and the whole product lifecycle by 2020.
In 2011 we established Grameen UNIQLO, a social business, together with Grameen Bank to strengthen local communities and encourage economic development in Bangladesh. The first Grameen UNIQLO stores opened in the capital city of Dhaka in July 2013 and as of May 2014 there were seven Grameen UNIQLO stores.
Together with professional tennis player Novak Djokovic, UNIQLO has launched a project called “Clothes for Smiles”, a fund that brings hopes and dreams to disadvantaged children. We are also helping raise tomorrow’s leaders by establishing scholarships at renown universities in the US, Bangladesh and elsewhere.
